Women and Youth Empowerment

Women and youth are made up of close to eighty percent (80%) of the Ghanaian population most of whom invariably depend on agriculture for theirĀ  livelihoods. These categories of the population need to be supported to be able to play their rightful roles in their efforts to enhance their livelihoods. Asdev Foundation (Consult) has made a number of significant efforts towards women and youth empowerment. By this, 500 rural women are economically and socially empowered and have sustainable livelihoods and incomes.

As we are experienced in group development and sustainability, community mobilization and participation, inclusive service delivery, village savings and loans services. We facilitated the formation of groups and provided training and input support services to women smallholder farmers in Northern Ghana that supported /improved women access to income for farming (farming) activities and provision of family needs like health and nutrition. Apart from seasonal crop productivity support, they have also been introduced to dry season vegetable production during off season.

To ensure year round flow of funds, they have been trained in income generating activities at the community level such as shea butter processing, soybean khebab making, soap making, petty trading coupled with village savings and loans association (VSLA) model which served as sources of income at the community level as a method of sustainability for the continuation of women and youth empowerment activities.
